Vision in the water without a facemask.

چکیده
Distance and size estimates and stereoacuity judgments were made in water by divers, both with and without facemasks. Without the mask, only stereoacuity was markedly degraded. Distance estimates were slightly more accurate, despite a great decrease in the range of visibility. Size estimates were slightly too small. Divers with refractive errors did not appear to be more handicapped than those with normal vision.

Background and Aims: Skeletal class III malocclusions are considered as one of the most complex and difficult orthodontic problems to diagnose and treat. Facial appearance and occlusion problems make the patients to seek treatment as soon as possible. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of early treatment with facemask compared to the patients who had no treatment. Materials ...
متن کاملRobot Motion Vision Pait I: Theory
A direct method called fixation is introduced for solving the general motion vision problem, arbitrary motion relative to an arbitrary environment. This method results in a linear constraint equation which explicitly expresses the rotational velocity in terms of the translational velocity. The combination of this constraint equation with the Brightness-Change Constraint Equation solves the gene...
متن کاملRobot Motion Vision Part II: Implementation
The idea of Fixation introduced a direct method for general recovery of shape and motion from images without using either feature correspondence or optical flow [1,2]. There are some parameters which have important effects on the performance of fixation method. However, the theory of fixation does not say anything about the autonomous and correct choice of those parameters. This paper presents ...
متن کاملFacemask Risks during the COVID-19 Crisis
Introduction: With the increasing severity of the COVID-19 epidemic, wearing a mask was recommended. This recommendation seems to have created concern among the public. Wearing a mask generally reduces the risk of virus and therefore potentially saves lives. In healthy populations, wearing a mask does not appear to cause any harmful physiological changes, and the potentially life-saving benefit...
متن کاملDetermination of the optimal inspiratory pressure providing adequate ventilation while minimizing gastric insufflation using real-time ultrasonography in Chinese children: a prospective, randomized, double-blind study
BACKGROUND During facemask ventilation, gastric insufflation is defined as appearance of a comet-tail or an acoustic shadow on ultrasonography. Ultrasonographic measurement of antral cross-section area (CSA) may reflect an insufflated antrum and provide interesting semi-quantitative data in regard to the gastric insufflation. This study aimed to determine the appropriate level of inspiratory pr...
